Object Description
Bailey, Banks and Biddle sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 1.00 carats, flanked by two drop shape old cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.30 carats, further set with thirty eight round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.80 carats, to an embellished three stone cluster design featuring intricate openwork with millegrain borders, a pierced gallery featuring chenier detail and fancy open backholing, the integrated shoulders with ornate engraving flow through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked platinum and tested iridium, signed ‘BB&B’ for Bailey Banks and Biddle, numbered ‘58813’, engraved ‘J.D.S 6-22-24’, American, circa 1924, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5782-831.
