Elaborate and atmospheric representation of a small french hamlet located at the border of small river right before a thunderstorm. Oil on canvas, signed at the lower right corner: “Bilhaut”.

Object History

Georges Henri Bilhaut (1882-1963) was a painter and art historian from Abbeville/ Normandy, he studied at the Collège Courbet d’Abbéville and was a pupil of Fernand Cormon at the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He is known for his evocative landscape paintings, mostly of the Normandy region.
