Bronze Age Gouge Chisel

Object Description

A long Bronze Age gouge chisel. The cast bronze tool has a short semi-circular shaft that seamlessly transitions into a blunt square-section butt which served as a handle. The gouge end, unfortunately now chipped off, would have been sharper and curved, with a narrow channel running from the end to the handle part of the chisel. Patination and earthly encrustation is visible across the surface.

Object Condition

Fine condition, some patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Gouge end now chipped off.
