Bronze Age Shield Boss

Object Description

A fine bronze shield boss, dating to the Bronze Age. The boss features a bronze sheet cast in a circular convex shape. The reverse has a bronze loop, used to attach the shield boss to the shield. Both the front and back of the shield are unworked and unadorned.

The boss is accompanied by a custom-made display stand.

Date: Circa 1200-600 BC

Object Condition

Very fine condition. A beautiful dark green patina and some encrustations to the surface. Minor scratches to the surface and minor cracks and chips to the edges as consistent with its age.
