Object Description
Bronze sculptural lamp by Henry Étienne Dumaige
French, 19th Century
Height 69cm. width 28cm, depth 23cm
This fine figurative lamp is by Étienne Henry Dumaige, a celebrated Parisian sculptor of the 19th Century. The lamp features a highly sculptural body, comprised of a man, a woman, and an infant—the three arranged in a warm, close manner. The man, whose arm is draped over the woman’s shoulders, gazes at the infant in her arms, while the infant reaches back towards the man. The quality of the bronze casting is superb—fine folds of drapery carefully rendered—while the patination lends the piece a subtle character.
The base of the lamp is signed ‘H. Dumaige’.
