Object Description
A vintage 18ct gold and citrine dress ring by Bulgari, circa 1980s, the ring of stylised ‘Toi et Moi’ design set to the front with a matched pair of pear-shape yellow citrines set horizontally within a wide tapering band of yellow gold, the gems surrounded by a figure of eight motif, the shoulders smoothly tapering into the band. The ‘Toi et Moi’ (meaning you and me) idea is symbolised by the two stones, sometimes matching as in this case, other times contrasting. Perhaps the most famous example of this style of ring is the engagement ring given to Josephine de Beauharnais by Napoleon Bonaparte and it is one that has recently seen a revival in popularity with many different interpretations of the idea.
