Object Description
A very good quality burr walnut pedestal desk with shaped corners and gilt tooled leather writing surface. This very high quality shaped desk dates to the mid 20th Century.
The top retaining its original green tooled leather writing surface in three panelled sections bordered by a walnut crossband with a carved moulded edge. The corners being concave with hand carved mouldings of bows and bellflowers flanking a burr walnut frieze having three burr walnut cockbeaded drawers with brass fretted back plate swan neck handles and central locks.
Each pedestal having a shaped beaded moulded door with brass escutcheon and lock which open to reveal a shelved storage compartment for books and folders.
The desk is freestanding as the rear and pedestals are fully veneered and polished with moulds to the pedestals on the inside and outside.
Raised on a plinth base this desk comes in three sections for ease of transportation and delivery into the home.
The desk has been fully restored and polished so in excellent condition to be used in the home. The quality of this desk is superb with a good use of burr walnut veneers having a fantastic colour and proportions.
