Object Description

A fine Byzantine base silver cross attachment, formed of six adjoined circular medallions displaying concentric circles. Each medallion features a piercing at the centre, through which an iron knob has been riveted. The reverse of the piece is flat and unworked, with the stud terminals of the knobs slightly protruding.

Date: Circa 7th-10th century AD

Object Condition

Fine condition, earthly encrustations and patination to the surface. Rusting to the iron knobs. The two iron knobs on the bottom arm are now missing.
