A Byzantine gold ring comprised of a thin round-section hoop, and an applied circular bezel that is adorned with a representation of the bust of the Virgin Mary. She is depicted facing forward, her hands raised in the orans gesture, a devotional pose commonly associated with prayer and supplication.
