A delicate Byzantine gold bead featuring a quatrefoil shape with four circles placed next to one another. Three rows of gold granules frame the circles linking them together. The bead showcases the intricacy of Byzantine gold working techniques.
Date: Circa 5th – 10th century AD
From an Ex Japanese gentleman’s (deceased) private collection, formed 1970s-2010.
Fine condition. Some damage to the interior of the circles. Some earthy encrustations to the surface.
