Object Description
A Byzantine moulded terracotta oil lamp, most commonly known as a slipper lamp. It features an oval body which slightly tapers to a point at the nozzle. There is a large central filling hole surrounded by a raised ridge of four concentric circles. The shoulders are decorated with raised lines and dots. A geometric design enriches the nozzle, which is now blocked. A conical knobbed handle is placed at the top of the lamp. To the reverse is a cross within a flat, circular base.
