Object Description

A porcelain saucer from the Ca Mau shipwreck decorated with a floral scene in cobalt blue. At the centre is a single floral spray encompassed by two thin bands. Surrounding the centre is a floral frieze of varying flower sprays. Enclosing the scene is a hatched band along the rim. The reverse features a brown exterior with a white glazed base.

Date: Early 18th century AD
Period: Qing Dynasty

Object History

From the Ca Mau shipwreck, which sank between 1723-1735 and was recovered in 1998.

Object Condition

Very fine condition, some very minor surface pitting due to age and seawater exposure. Previous auction sticker and the official Ca Mau sticker visible to the base along with the item reference number written by the previous owner.
