I really ought to be offering a best caption prize for this one. A complete mystery to me, this has the essence of a book cover – only really making sense in the context of the title and narrative within. Despite that, it is a wonderful painting, a bit of Euston Road, a bit of Camden Town, and the priceless ‘seen it all before’ amused expression on the maid’s face.
