Carved limewood sculpture of a prophet, Swabian, circa 1500

Object Description

Limewood carving of a seated prophet decorated with gilt and polychrome, the inclined head with fine detailing, the draped robes with deep folds. Swabia.

Object Condition

Some small losses to the gilt and the polychrome. The carving was probably originally part of a large group as there is a location hole on either side of the seat.
