Object Description
Circa 1870, carved mahogany revolving grotto stool, with the trade label of Edwards and Roberts, London. With a scooped out seat in solid mahogany and small gallery back which is fixed to a thread revolving mechanism. It has a tapering column, carved acanthus leaves on the base and a mythical mask in the form of a primitive lion. Sitting on a circular bezel and standing on three carved animal feet. The casters of the feet have been removed and in the centre is the trade label of Edwards and Roberts.
