Object Description
Circa 1870. A quality carved mid Victorian pedestal desk. The shaped top with a tan leather insert, broad banding and a profusely carved fore edge. The front is inverted, beneath the top there is one full length drawer flanked by a pair of smaller drawers, each with finely carved knob handles. Resting on a pair of pedestals, each with a bank of three graduating drawers with similar handles, canted corners with foliate carving from top to bottom. Beneath the bottom drawer is a moulded fore edge which follows the form of the pedestals with a simple plinth, with concealed metal and wooden castors.
