Object Description
A mahogany Cased Compass.
The box case has a hinged lid to protect the glass of the compass. The glass is held in by a brass bezel and the paper dial is marked with 16 points with the principal 4 marked by their initial. The dial also has shows the degrees marked to 90 in each quadrant. The blued needle is marked for north and south and is held in position when the lid is closed by a small brass pin button. The lid in turn is fixed closed by two brass swing hooks.
The compass is in good working order. Mid 19th century.
