Object Description
Ceylon star sapphire and diamond ring by J. Milhening. Centrally set with an oval cabochon natural unenhanced Ceylon star sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 30.00 carats, flanked by two tapered baguette cut diamonds in open back half rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.40 carats, further adorned with fourteen round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.90 carats, to an impressive solitaire design featuring triple claw details, intricate scrollwork to the gallery and fancy open backholing, leading to raised trumpeting shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked platinum and iridium, maker’s mark for J. Milhening. Inc, Chicago, American, circa 1950, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #78153-47.
