Charles I oak coffer

Object Description

Fine Charles I oak coffer,excellent carving with centre panel bearing the initials K W.
Good panelled lid with original mouldings and handles,stands well up on it’s feet.

Object History

Collection the late Fred Anderson who purchased it from The Earl of Powis
Lymore Hall ,Montgomery ,a fine Elizabethan house sadly demolished in October 1929 and purchased by Fred Anderson from the Earl,his landlord.The staircase from the hall is now at Aldborough Hall ,Yorkshire.

Object Condition

Very good colour and patina,there are a few pieces of the holly and bog oak inlay at the bottom missing.
