Chinese Export Silver Box - Antique Circa 1900

Object Description

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export silver box; an addition to our collection of boxes and cases.

This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) box has a rectangular form.

Each elongated side of the box is embellished with two impressive finely pierced and embossed decorated iconic oriental dragons amidst clouds.

The decoration to the box incorporates a flame-shaped vacant cartouche to either side.

This antique Luen Hing silver box is fitted with the original push fit cover, reflecting the ornamentation to that of the body.

The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include:
Maker’s mark: LH (Luen Hing*)
Character mark: Untraced

* Luen Hing was a retail silversmith, selling luxury goods with an attention towards silver pieces which complimented the growth of the middle class Chinese community.
