Object Description
Circa 1890, a Qing dynasty, exhibition quality Chinese huanghuali hall chair. Made to a Western design of chair with shaped top, arm rests and cabriole legs, and the frame in faux bamboo. There are 2 carved love birds beneath the top rail, with a central splat profusely carved with a heron, bamboo and leaves. The solid floating seat is held in place by a large frame, with shaped, pierced apron and the back legs are outswept. The front cabriole legs finish on a pad foot, united by several turned stretchers.
