Chinese Tang Dynasty Foreign Groom

Object Description

A Chinese terracotta statuette depicting a foreign groom from the Tang Dynasty. The man is wearing a tight cap and a coat tied at the waist with large lapels. His left arm extends forward slightly to hold onto reins while his right arm is raised to groom.

Date: Circa 618-907 AD
Period: Tang Dynasty
