Object Description

A striking and intriguing collection of 3 natural mineral specimens each presented on an exclusive medium painted display plinth.

This group contains a range of impressive cabinet specimens hand-selected from collections to create a unique set, ideal for use as natural sculptures in an interior.

Included in this stunning collection is an extremely rare purple chalcedony, not seen in many years, found 30 hours down the Pangolaines river system, from Nosy Varika, Lemur Island, Madagascar.

This exceptionally rare material is in a natural raw state with only a handful of pieces found of its likeness. The intensity colour of the purple is met by other colours featuring in natural forms.

A Salrose, derived from the French ’salt rose’, coalition Dolomite specimen from Kakanda, Congo, can be seen showcasing its exquisite pink crystalline lustre.

Malachite and chrysocolla, originating from the Congo, also features in its complex mix of vibrant green and blue. Malachite is the more frequently associated mineral to the chrysocolla out of this part of the world.

Chrysocolla, a minor ore of copper, has a cyan colour and typically found as botryoidal or rounded masses and crusts, or vein fillings, such as this one. A natural specimen such as this is harder to come by than the polished.
