Collection of three German porcelain bird figures by Meissen
German, 20th Century
Largest: Height 11.5cm, width 12.5cm, depth 7cm
This delightful ensemble of three porcelain bird figures was produced by the esteemed Meissen manufactory, a leading name in European porcelain with a legacy spanning over three centuries.
Included in this set are three charming bird species – the robin, great tit, and goldfinch – each portrayed with remarkable attention to natural detail. The birds are hand-painted in a vibrant palette that captures the striking colours of their feathers, enhanced with delicate brushstrokes that suggest texture and depth. The precise feather detailing reflects the high level of skill characteristic of Meissen artisans.
All three birds are perched on elegant porcelain bases designed to resemble tree branches. These glossy white bases add contrast to the rich colouring of the birds, with some featuring additional decorative flourishes, such as small flowers, most notably beneath the goldfinch, where the floral detail is more pronounced.
Each model is stamped underneath with Meissen’s iconic crossed swords in blue. One of the pieces also features an additional inscription, adding further uniqueness to the set.
This finely crafted trio is not only a testament to Meissen’s enduring artistry but also a charming decorative accent for traditional or contemporary interiors.
