Object Description
Oil painting by Russian artist Nikita Nikonorovitch Tchebakov (1916-1968) An unbroken tradition of state funded art academies and institutions teaching traditional methods of drawing and painting have paid dividends. The only downside to the Russian market is perhaps the shear quantity of supply. There are simply so many of them working at such a high standard that outside of the international arena their names go largely unrecognised. Consequently, from a dealer’s point of view, we pick up works on the strength of image alone as with this glorious Russian beauty. A timeless portrait of a young woman from the Soviet era, devoid of that western fashion sense that would otherwise pin her so easily to a date in history. Valued very much on commercial appeal and not an illegible signature.
