Object Description
Contemporary Art Deco Carpet
3.35 x 2.50
A contemporary carpet, which represents a reimagining of the iconic Art Deco pieces of the early 20th Century. This style, inspired by the bold geometric forms of Modernist art, flourished in the 1910s to 1930s, and produced what collectors now regard as a unique high-point in 20th Century textile design – as the critic Rene Chavance wrote in 1927, of all the decorative arts, carpet making most embodied the ‘visionary aims of the times.’
This example features a muted bronze field, with a minimalist geometric pattern in darker tones across the centre. Its open composition, and simple, restrained pattern, lends this piece an air of understated elegance which makes it a wonderful choice to compliment a contemporary interior.
