Object Description
Contemporary Bakshayish Carpet, Handwoven in Iran
3.88 x 3.05 m
Bakshayish carpets are woven in the same region of Northwest Persia as Heriz pieces, and showcase similar bold, graphic drawings and rich palettes – despite their similarities however, Bakshayish weavings are set apart from their Heriz cousins by a unique sense of spontaneity in their designs and colour schemes, which makes them highly sought after carpets.
This contemporary Bakshayish carpet features a wonderful colour variation in the central field, ranging from shades of pale duck egg blue to aquamarine, providing a characterful backdrop to the abstract motifs in the drawing, creatively repeated in a variety of earthy ochre and terracotta tones, and framed by a decorative border of impressive proportions.
A charming piece, with an expressive design to suit either a classic or contemporary interior.
