Object Description
The Hexa collection of hand-blown glass plates by Vezzini and Chen is inspired by the experience of looking at forms through water, seeing textures and shapes shift with the depth or disturbance of the surface. Each plate is formed in solid glass, and a texture is then hand-carved on the underside. The thickness of the glass creates an illusion, similar to water, magnifying the underlying texture and creating a natural and subtle movement with the pattern.
The use of clear glass creates a straight connection to the water element and creates a contemporary feel. The engraved textures are a connection to the long history of engraved glass as well as taking inspiration from textures seen in the natural world.
Each plate (Crystal, Dune, and Ripple) is completely unique and features a different carved design.
