Object Description
Contemporary Ziegler Sultanabad Rug – Hand-Woven in Iran
2.15 x 1.60 m
Ziegler Sultanabad carpets such as this example were originally commissioned in Persia for the Western market during the late 19th Century, designed to suit European decorative tastes. Their unique grand scale drawing, quiet formality and understated colours have made them sought-after pieces in stylish homes across the UK and Europe.
This example is a contemporary reimagining of these ealier Zeigler Sultanabad carpets, finely woven in lustrous wool and with natural vegetable-dyed colours. The muted field works to compliment the brighter colours in the design, in rich tones of ivory and sky blue; an understated palette, which lends the carpet an elegant, modern feel.
A chaming piece, to suit a wide variety of interiors.
