Object Description

Jose A Cunha Majolica wall plate which features a snake biting a lizards tail, as the lizard retreats into a burrow. Also present: a frog, moths, grubs. Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.

Object Condition

Very Good. No restoration. A few small, inconspicuous chips to the shredded clay. KILN EFFECTS: some stray shredded clay (grass) to head of snake (possibly by design).
