Dark Age Bronze Cruciform Plate Brooch

Object Description

A bronze cruciform brooch, dating to the Dark Ages. It features a Maltese-style body, with slightly flaring arms of equal length. Five incised, concentric circle and dot motifs decorate the arms and the centre of the brooch. The reverse of the mount displays the original hinge and catch plate, but the pin is now missing.

Date: Circa 9th-11th century AD

Object Condition

Fine condition, earthly encrustations and patination to the surface.Pin now missing.
