An extremely good quality and well constructed decorative early 19th-Century Anglo-Indian iron strapped and brass trunk / coffee table.
India, Circa 1820.
Of excellent proportions and typical of the Rajastan design, being constructed from solid teak with decorative iron strapwork and brass-work. The hinged top having a carved front edge opens to reveal a very useful storage compartment.
The original iron and brass-work has been designed and implemented in a very decorative manner, still retaining its original engraved hasp and carrying handles to the sides.
Of a rare model being deeper than most this well-proportioned chest / trunk / coffee table has obtained a beautiful colour and patina whilst being finished to all sides.
Offered in excellent condition this large and well proportioned decorative trunk is the ideal coffee table for both a contemporary or traditional setting.
Note the depth of this trunk being rarer than most seen and quality of brass / ironwork.
