Decorative patinated bronze model of a crab
Continental, Early 20th Century
Height 22cm, width 32cm, depth 22cm
This large crustacean model is a beautifully made early 20th century piece, wrought from patinated bronze to depict an animated crab.
The crab is rendered standing on his legs, claws raised high, with meticulous attention paid to recreating the specific anatomical details of the real animal. The brown, grey, and maroon hues created on the surface of the patinated bronze add a beautifully subtle variety to the colouration of this piece, creating a sense of depth and texture.
The piece is signed ‘MOORE’ on the reverse.
This magnificent piece of sculpture would make a fine addition to the collection of anyone interested in marine life.
