Delphin Massier Majolica Birds around Well Group

Object Description

Delphin Massier French Majolica centrepiece which features seven colourful garden birds, perched around a wishing well. Colouration: cream, yellow, green, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Delphin Massier pottery. Book reference ,’Barbotines de la Côte d’Azur’ by Maryse Bottero, page 57, figure 8.

Object Condition

Good. Small flakes to one bird’s head. KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the pool in front of the well. RESTORATION. Two birds reglued and joins retouched. One bird tail reglued and join retouched. Retouched flakes to bird’s beaks. Remodelled
