Object Description

A very stylish Art Nouveau silver mounted Doulton Lambeth vase decorated with typical stylized tall flowering stems by renowned designer and decorator Nellie Garbett and dating from around 1913. The tall stoneware vase stands raised on a skirted round base with an onion ball body and tall wide funnel shaped neck applied with a silver mounted top rim. The vase is decorated around the lowetr body with a repeat pattern of tall scrolling leafy stems supporting three flowers arranged in a formal pattern. The decoration is hand painted in tones of green, brown and light against a dark cobalt blue ground, the foot decorated in dark brown glazes. The silver mounted rim bears London hallmarks dated 1913. The vase has impressed makers marks to the base along with an incised EG monogram for Nellie Garbett and assistant marks for Annie Askew. The vase bears the number 8446.
