Object Description
An extremely rare Anglo-Japanese walnut double bed or a four poster bed, in the style of E W Godwin probably made by Collinson and Lock of London.
With higher Lattice work bar to the head board which has curled ends and central lattice work details to the head and to the foot boards, united to each corner by chunky turned legs, and solid side rails that bolt into place with a large tenon joint and two large bolts to each side rail end, which I must say when bolted together there is no movement whatsoever.
The turned uprights/legs have a hole drilled in the tops to all four, which were originally for making it into a four poster bed although the frame wasn’t there when I bought the bed, all the same it would be an easy inexpensive job to have a frame made from iron bar making an all around canopy to hang decorative curtains from.
