Object Description
An Attractive Early 18th Century George I Period Rectangular Kit Kat Design Wall Mirror, The Old Replacement Mirror Plate Set Within Elegant Walnut And Parcel Gilded Frame With Foliate Moulding And Re-Entrant Corners.
This relatively simple mirror is great for a whole host of spaces around the home due to its sensible size. And also considering that it is over 300 years old the condition remains pretty good overall.
The re-entrant corners, sometimes referred to as creating a kit kat shaped frame design add a little to the overall elegance of the piece, as does the moulded decoration to the gilded slip.
The mirror plate itself is old, in fact it has significant age, which can be seen in the small areas of silvering, although that silvering is very small and inconsequential and it certainly doesn;t affect the function of the mirror. Despite having some good age to it the mirror plate is almost certainly not original however.
As with all items which we offer for sale the mirror has received a natural wax polish following inspection in our workshops by our traditional antique furniture restorers.
