Object Description
An Extremely Rare Early 18th Century Queen Anne
Period Giltwood Pier Mirror Having Broken Swan NeckĀ
Pediment Above Replaced Split Bevelled
Mirror Plates With Arched TopĀ
(This charming mirror is over 300 years old and has certainly
aged gracefully and with much love. It is relatively rare to find
mirrors of this age still in such good condition. The floral centre
of the swan neck pediment is a later replacement, as are the
split mirror plates. The reason that most of these mirrors had a
split plate is that because in the early 18th century glass workshops
were just not producing the size mirror plates required.)
