Object Description
A Very Good Quality Early 18th Century Queen
Anne Period Walnut Dressing Table Mirror Having
Replacement Old Mirror Plate To Moulded & Shaped
Swing Frame Over Three Short & One Long Drawer
Raised On Later Turned Feet
(Dressing table mirrors, often referred to as “toilet mirrors”
were made from the beginning of the 18th century onwards.
Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the
bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of
sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities. This is lovely early example
retains a good rich colour & patina to its walnut veneers. Of course
although it was originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table
it is of actually most versatile of course and would suit a whole variety
of locations around the home. The mirror plate itself is replaced, but not brand
new, meaning there are a few old marks, but it is very much functional
for its original purpose as a dressing table mirror. It also has replacement
turned feet, but they are very much the style it would originally have had)
