Object Description

An 18th Century petit point silkwork embroidery of a lady seated next to a tree, in a country landscape. Goats, a dog and sheep in the foreground. A house in the background with a smoking chimney and birds perched on the roof. The piece is worked in petit point, using silk and fine wool-like threads on a canvas ground. Colours red, cream, yellow, green and blue. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The piece is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Object Condition

Good. No holes. No stains. Minor stitch losses in places. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame has a chip in top right corner. And showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
