A Handsome Early 19th Century French Beech Wood Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, Having Well Figured Plank Top Retaining Exceptional Warm Colour And Patina, Over One Drawer To Frieze, Raised On Bold Square Chamfered Legs.
An absolutely charming table of great size, which can comfortably seat 10 and is the perfect shape for just about any dining room and can be used with almost any kind of chairs.
It retains a quite exceptional colour to the top, which is well figured and has clearly been well used throughout the years, whilst still remaining perfectly functional. Another nice feature is the drawer, some don’t have a drawer at all.
The base is very attractive, with no structural defects to speak of and this results in the table being particularly robust and solid, especially due to the heavy set, chunky, chamfered legs, which add real stability to the table. It is also very much worth noticing the stretcherless design, which ensures that the support stretchers are never an issue in terms of a persons legs when trying to sit at the table. Each leg has been tipped at the bottom in customary fashion, to ensure the table is the correct height for dining.
It is far more common to find later 19th century fruitwood versions of these farmhouse tables and there are generally plenty of those on the market for one to choose from. However it is quite rare to find ones like these which are from the early 19th century and generally have a bit more presence to them.
As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
