Object Description

Early 19th century English Regency eagle figure round gilt and ebonized wood convex wall mirror

A large early 19th century English Regency neoclassical convex mirror in a round gilt and partially ebonized wood frame. The fluted frame is decorated with a ring of gilt wood balls. An elaborately carved and gilt wood figure of an eagle spreading its wings and sitting on top of a small landscape socle framed by foliage ornaments tops the mirror. The bottom of the mirror is decorated by a laurel leaf ornament. The original convex mirror glass shows some traces of corrosion.

Excellent piece of elaborate carving with beautiful patina, matching perfectly with a classical as well as a modern ambiance.
