Object Description

A fine early Charles II Caudle Cup with Cover: approx. 7” in height to the top of the finial and fully hallmarked for London 1663 on the bowl and under the rim of the cover; the maker Arthur Mainwaring; there is a lion passant mark under the slightly fluted foot; approx. 25ozs in weight.

A similar Cup with matching Salver is illustrated in Michael Clayton’s book ‘The Collector’s Dictionary of the Gold and Silver of Great Britain and North America’ plate 168.
