Object Description
A very impressive Georgian style longcase clock of small proportions, the 8-day movement with three-train fusee musical movement, eight bells, four gongs and strike gong, with both Westminster and Eight Bells chimes.
The 9-inch brass dial has a well-painted centre section of warring sailing ships within a silvered Arabic chapter ring with moon phase to the arch. To the sides are a chime selection lever and a strike / silent lever.
The quality mahogany case has a pagoda-top hood with really well cut material-backed fretwork, the dial flanked by freestanding half brass filled reeded columns with Corinthian caps and bases. There is a blind fretwork frieze above the break-arch top long trunk door, which is also flanked with matching reeded quarter pilasters.
