Object Description

A very fine Egyptian jar carved from alabaster dating to the Early Dynastic period. The vessel features an ovoid shape, narrowing in at the neck and slightly flaring out at the wide, flat mouth. The jar sits upon a flat, circular base. The alabaster itself displays beautiful, natural streaks throughout giving the jar different hues of cream.

Date: 3100 BC – 2686 BC
Period: Early Dynastic Period

Object Condition

Very fine condition, two minor surface cracks from the rim to mid body. Encrustation to the interior as consistent with age.
