Object Description

A finely modelled Egyptian bronze figurine, depicting the mummiform god Osiris. He is depicted in a close-fitted shroud and he wears a false, plaited beard. His hands are clasped and meet in the centre of his body, just below his chest. He grasps a flail (nekhakha) in his left hand and a short-handled crook (heka) sceptre in his right hand. Osiris also wears the atef crown (consisting of the Upper Egyptian white crown flanked by two lateral plumes and a uraeus, whose body extends up the crown). The barbs of the feathers have been indicated through the use of moulded striations. Towards the bottom of his feet is a narrow tang. Remains of original gold gilding can be seen throughout.

Please note that the figurine does not stand unaided.

Date: Circa 730 – 30 BC
Period: Third Intermeditate Period – Late Period

Object Condition

Very good condition. Original gold gilding still remains in areas. Please note that the figurine does not stand unaided.
