Object Description

A very large and fine example of an Egyptian, carnelian frog amulet. The amphibian is depicted sitting, his legs and webbed feet beneath his body. His head is slightly raised and features finely sculpted detailing to the eyes and mouth. The amulet is pierced longitudinally for suspension. A large and well crafted example.

Date: Circa 664 – 332 BC
Period: Late Period

Object History

Ex English collection, AB, acquired 1920s-40, passed by descent.

Object Condition

Excellent condition with fine detailing. Hairline, but stable, crack to the left side, front leg. Large example.
