Object Description
A finely detailed, ancient Egyptian, amulet carved from pale turquoise faience, depicting the ram-headed god Khnum. The god is depicted in the typical pose, with the left leg striding forwards and both arms held at his sides. Careful moulding denotes his large, curving horns and delicate facial features. He dons a kilt and a wig of human hair which reaches down his torso in two rectangular locks. The amulet features a flat integrated base and dorsal pillar, perforated horizontally near the top for suspension. Some very minor earthy encrustations and pitting to the surface, otherwise the amulet is exceptionally well preserved. A small chip to one edge of the face.
