Object Description

An Ancient Egyptian faience amulet of the dwarf god Pataikos depicted frontally and nude, with his arms bent, holding onto his stomach. Facial features, such as his eyes, nose, and protruding ears, are still visible on his head, which, as typical, appears disproportionately large. His bowed legs meet on a flattened base. He has been rendered stylistically, with a cropped hairstyle. The amulet has been pierced horizontally, through the god’s head, behind his large ears, for suspension.

Circa 1069-664 BC
