Object Description

A beautiful restrung ancient Egyptian beaded necklace adorned with a lotus flower pendant. The body of the necklace is composed of tubular faience beads in alternating shades of blue, green, and turquoise. Short, disc-shaped spacer beads of blue, red, brown, and black faience are interspersed individually and in pairs between each tubular bead. A centrepiece is formed from a pyramidal lotus bead, carefully carved with four vertical grooves, evenly spaced to mimic the folds and petals of a blooming lotus flower. The beads and amulet are perforated vertically and threaded upon string, complete with a gold-plated clasp. Some minor wear to the beads, such as pitting, scratches, and earthy encrustations consistent with their age. A few chips feature to the edges of the lotus bead.
